Troop 77 - New Building Planning Process

  • The planning for the new Troop 77 Scout Building took approximately 18 months during 2000 - 2002. The Troop Committee met many times to discuss the alternatives... usually value and benefits versus cost. Those planning steps are reviewed here for your information.
    · All potential uses for the building were listed.
    · Using our experience with our current building, the desired features were listed (number of rooms; size of rooms; equipment storage; rest rooms; kitchen; heat & air; fireplace; wall space for history display; etc.)
    · We used uses and features to design the first draft of the building. Although this first draft was functional, it wasn't very efficient nor was it visually attractive
  • Our next try was an improvement to the internal layout and produced a more visually attractive building. However, the committee felt that wall space was not used to our best advantage.
  • Our next modification incorporated the concept of a special wall to recognize and honor previous Eagle Scouts from Troop 77. The design was modified to "funnel" or focus attention on this special wall. This introduced the "V"-shaped wall with the Eagle at it's center. After considering several other internal layouts, this basic design was adopted.
