There will be no deductions for sickness or absence of any kind. Tuition is prorated for the ten month school year. The preschool will observe the public school year calendar. Tuition will be the same every month regardless of holidays. 1st U.M.C. preschool is a non-profit organization and utilizes its fees to secure and provide the best teachers and supplies possible. All fees should be current.

Time and Schedule: Parents are requested to see that students arrive at school on time. Drop-off assistance begins at 8:30 A.M. Drive through drop-off will end and side doors will be locked at 9:00 A.M. Learning hours begin promptly at 9:00 A.M. A child must be at the preschool by 9:00 in order to participate in the complete, planned curriculum for each day. If a child is late, he will join the group at the point at which they are working. It is crucial for education and classroom continuity that the child be able to enjoy and partake in social time with his/her peers prior to learning time. (top)

Drop-Off/Pick Up: Parents should drop children off and pick them up by way of the side church entrance under the alcove. Parents should enter from Tugalo Street onto Walnut Street (beside the church office) left onto Savannah Street and enter around the Cheek Hall to the covered drive. Each car will have a "Passenger Card" to be displayed in the right front corner of the windshield. If a child is to ride home with someone other than regularly authorized people (parents, grandparents, carpool, etc.), we must have a signed permission note or phone call from the parent by departure time. This is for our security as well as your child's. If parents wish to walk in their child, parking is available along side and behind the church. Enter through the Mcneely Hall entrance of the church. Entrance by "Parkers" through the alcove will not be permitted unless Director permits. This is also for safety reasons. Our Fall Term begins on the same date as the public schools. (top)

Food: No food is to be brought to preschool for individual snacks or breakfast. Breakfast should be eaten before arriving. A mid-morning snack will be provided to all students. Any parent wishing to assist in the provision of snacks, is welcome. No bottles will be permitted required. Please personalize everything. (top)

Open House/Progress Reports: Parents and children will be invited to Fall and Spring Open House. Progress reports will be sent out Bi-Annually for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Non-scheduled conflict reports will be sent out on a as needed basis. (top)

Parent-Teacher conferences and School Visitation: Conferences with the child's teacher are an important and necessary means of knowing the progress of your child's development and learning, as well as a better understanding of the programs offered and an opportunity for parent/teacher question/answer time. Conferences will be on an as needed basis at the request of teacher or parent. (top)

Newsletters: Each teacher will send a monthly newsletter and calendar to parents informing them of scheduled events and educational goals. This newsletter will include field trips, parties, curriculum, etc.. (top)

Personal Property: To reduce the number of lost items we ask that you personalize everything. There will be a lost and found area, however 1st U.M.C. Preschool cannot be held responsible for items never found or claimed. Please do not bring toys except at the instruction of the teacher. (top)

Medication and Health: No medicine of any kind will be given to the students. If your child becomes sick at school, we will attempt to notify you as soon as possible. Please notify the teacher should your child contract an infectious or contagious disease. Children are not to attend while sick. (top)

School Parties: We welcome birthday or special event parties. We do ask that you schedule this with your teacher in advance, so that she can work her classroom curriculum around this event. Many of our holidays we do celebrate with a party. Your teacher will inform yo at Preschool Orientation of the year sign-up times, should you wish to participate. Parents are always welcome at parties to share, help, and take pictures. This is what memories are made of! (top)

Discipline: One of the most important lessons school can teach is Discipline. Discipline underlines the whole educational structure. It is the training that develops self-control, character, orderliness, and efficiency. It is the key to good conduct, proper consideration for others, and individual achievement.
1st U.M.C. has adopted certain Student Responsibilities as to be adhered to while enrolled:

1. Respect the rights & privileges of others.
2. Accept the responsibility for ones own actions and consequences of behavior.
3. Abide by the authority of teachers, staff and adults.
4. Attempt at all times to use good manners.

Good discipline begins in the home. Parents are the child's first teacher. Through example and direct teaching, parents instill in children habits of acceptable behavior and positive attitudes. 1st U.M.C. has set forth certain guidelines in regards to behavior management. We encourage parents to become familiar with these guidelines. Preschool staff will abide by the guidelines below in regards to any student neglecting to abide by their Student Responsibilities:

1. Verbal warning and discussion of appropriate behavior.
2. 2nd verbal reprimand & Time Out (1 min/2's; 2min/3's; 3min/4's).
3. 3rd verbal reprimand will result in a note home to the parents.
4. When all options have been exhausted, behavior management may result in suspension and/or dismissal.

In closing, our number one goal and objective is to help provide children with the spiritual, structural, and educational foundation that will enable them to be successful in their lifetime of experiences and challenges. (top)
