The Koinonia SS class was formed in 2005 mainly for new comers to FUMC. We are very diverse in our class, with ages ranging from the thirties to the seventies. We have elementary age children to adult grandchildren. Our common denominator is our desire to grow in our faith. We believe that true faith will show itself by loving and serving others, so we try to encourage each other to be “doers of the Word and not hearers only.”
Our class time is used predominantly to hear and discuss Biblical truth. We bring our full intellectual capacity to bear, weighing scripture with scripture; but at the end of our search, we desire not so much to judge the Word of God as have the Word of God judge us. We want to grow in grace and in truth.
The word koinonia means fellowship and we enjoy each other on Sunday morning and at other times through social events. We try to be a caring group and tend to be rather transparent in our expressions of need for prayer. We are a small class of 20 members and welcome anyone who would like to join us.
Portions of Hebrews 10:23-25 describe what we want to be pursuing. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he [God] who promised is faithful. And let consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, . . . but let us encourage one another.”
Come join us! You will find love and acceptance.
